SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers has been isolated in Mandalay Region, scattered in Naypyitaw and Chin State, fairly widespread in Magway Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (2.99) inches in Dawei, (2.87) inches in Zalun, (2.76) inches in Hlegu, (2.52) inches each in Sittwe and Chaungsone, (2.48) inches each in Katha and Belin, (2.28) inches in Thaton, (1.92) inches in Loikaw, (1.81) inches each in Kamamaung, Kyeikkhame and Myeik, (1.76) inches in Tagaung(Agro), (1.73) inches in Paung, (1.66) inches in Kyaukpyu, (1.61) inches in Banmauk and (1.54) inches each in Yangon (Mingaladon), Phyarpon and Launglon.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 09th June, 2020: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing Region, Eastern Shan, Chin and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35)m.p.h. Sea will be slight to moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon –Taninthayi Coasts and about (4-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State.
